Mountainside Medical Center Awarded Recertification in Disease Specific Programs

October 2019 ― Montclair, NJ ― Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center has earned recertification by the Joint Commission in Disease Specific Programs for Wound Care, Chest Pain and Stroke.

In order to maintain successful compliance with the Joint Commission, facilities must regularly submit data and abide by rigorous performance measures.  These Centers were successfully reviewed for recertification by The Joint Commission in June and July of 2019, following surveys that studied patient metrics, reviewed policies and procedures, and interviewed team members and patients.

“Like all of our hospital accomplishments, these results could not have been achieved without the combined efforts of our team members and key leadership,” said John Fromhold, chief executive officer at Mountainside Medical Center.  “Obtaining these accreditations reinforces our commitment to provide quality services while maintaining a consistent approach to patient care.”

Disease Specific Certification improves the overall quality and function of the program by reducing discrepancies in patient care; promoting organized clinical teams; supporting objective assessments and improvement opportunities; and demonstrating to the surrounding community the highest level of commitment to quality care.

According to The Joint Commission, the organization accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care establishments and programs in the United States and is nationally recognized in its commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
