Mountainside Celebrates 50th Neurointerventional Case

The new Interventional Stroke Program at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center offers lifesaving and cutting edge treatments for acute strokes, removing dangerous blood clots and rapidly restoring blood flow to integral brain tissue. Additionally, the new program includes procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coiling and embolization, arteriovenous malformation and intracranial tumor embolization, as well as intracranial and extra-cranial angioplasty and stenting.

Mountainside Medical Center just performed its 50th neurointerventional case, a momentous occasion for the entire Mountainside family. Since the Siemens Biplane go live in February 2019, over 350 cases have been performed for neurosurgical, cardiovascular, and vascular surgical specialties. “This cutting-edge technology offers many advantages to our community, and takes the hospital’s capabilities to the next level,” says John A. Fromhold, CEO at Mountainside Medical Center.

Glimpsing into the future, our greater goals include becoming a comprehensive NJ center of excellence for stroke and neurosurgery, as well as for cardiology and vascular services. The new Siemens Biplane capabilities have been crucial to Mountainside Medical Center’s goal of bringing complex, comprehensive, and specialized care close to home.
