Wound Care Awareness Week 2020

June 1-5 is the 7th Annual Wound Care Awareness Week.  Each year 14.5 percent of Medicare beneficiaries experience a wound.  Wound Care Awareness was established by Healogics in 2014 to bring attention to the chronic wound epidemic and the 6.7 million Americans who are currently living with non-healing wounds.

FACTS

  • Patients with wounds are 20 times more likely to go to the emergency department or be admitted to the hospital.
  • Chronic wounds are more prevalent among the 30.3 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes, who have a 25 percent risk of developing a foot ulcer.
  • Increased age, obesity, heart and vascular disease, cancer treatment and traumatic injury may also contribute to non-healing wounds.
  • The longer a chronic wound goes untreated, the greater your risk of infection, amputation and other complications.  Our wound care center is one of the 97% of wound care hospitals that have stayed open to ensure access to care both inpatient and outpatient during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHAT WE DO

  • Our wound care center along with our panel members are available to serve ALL patients with varying needs from
