Feel Safe in Our Care

To Our Mountainside Medical Center Community,

For the last two months, as we increased our efforts to treat COVID-19 patients, we also took numerous steps to provide continuity of care to all patients. We have continued to safely deliver babies and treat patients with urgent and emergent illnesses. As we have passed the peak of COVID-19 hospitalizations in our area, and the Governor of New Jersey has eased restrictions, we are well prepared to welcome patients back for most services.

The following services will be available to you with some scheduling limitations to maintain social distancing and proper disinfection and sterilization of equipment and rooms between patients:

  • Bariatric Services
  • Behavioral Health
  • Cardiology Services
  • Emergency Services
  • Lab Services
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Perinatology
  • Pulmonology
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Surgical Services
  • Radiology Services
  • Rehabilitation Services
  • Same Day Surgery
  • Wound Care

We are following local, state and federal guidelines to protect you from exposure to the COVID-19 virus. These measures include screening every person for symptoms at our designated patient entrances, limited visitation, universal masking for all people in our facility, social distancing where possible, and enforced hand washing and disinfection of rooms and surfaces between appointments.

We want you to know that your risk of infection from a COVID-19 patient at our hospital is extremely low. All COVID-19 patients are isolated in a separate area of the hospital and you will not come in contact with them during any part of your visit.

During this transition to regular operation at our hospital, visitation is limited. Pediatric patients will be allowed one parent/guardian to stay with the patient through discharge. For labor and delivery, one support person may stay with the mother until discharge.  Visitation exceptions will be made in certain situations, where partners in care are needed.

We monitor all hospital staff daily for COVID-19 symptoms. Mountainside Medical Center follows the latest CDC guidelines on return-to-work for healthcare personnel with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 illness.

Perhaps most importantly, in a medical emergency, it is critical that you seek care immediately. Our emergency department and our emergency services staff follow current PPE and COVID-19 protocols. We screen every patient for COVID-19, treating them accordingly. Visitors accompanying ER patients must wait in their cars or at home until the patient is discharged.

We want you to feel confident that it is safe to return to Mountainside Medical Center for care.

Your Care Team,

Mountainside Medical Center
