Give the Gift of Life

From October to April, Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center is participating in a nationwide campaign to promote awareness around the life-saving benefits of organ and tissue donation. Together with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Mountainside Medical Center hopes to encourage community members to register to become organ and tissue donors.

More than two million New Jersey residents are registered organ donors. In 2017 alone, over 550 organs were transplanted in the state, the most ever transplanted in one year. Even with this record high, approximately 4,000 New Jersey residents are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant at any given time. By becoming a registered organ and tissue donor and encouraging your loved ones to do the same, you can help reduce this number.

Transplantable organs include:

- Heart

- Kidneys

- Liver

- Lungs

- Pancreas

- Intestine

Transplantable tissue includes:

- Corneas to restore sight

- Bone and ligaments to repair injuries

- Skin grafts to heal burns and for surgical reconstructions

- Heart valves to replace diseased valves

You have the power to save lives! Register to become an organ donor by visiting www.registerme.org/Mountainside.
